Our Mr Lee Kuan Yew

never off-in-lieu

never old, and always (but not overly) new.

You

hew

and brew

this country’s stew

and siew

dai and sew

this country’s milieu

which you

knew

so well, so we queue

up and no smell pew

and few

goes ew.

and our fruits and dew

are sweet and kew.

You

respected by eu

and ngu

and whatever elites old or new.

and due

to you,

others were drew

to us and you

so we did not threw

our face to be siu

chi or tiu lian. You

ensured further reaches of the island, like yew

tee have lew,

and made lew

(lukewarm) Singapore always new.

a non-jew

almost like a jew

yet not one of the jew,
